9 DIY beauty products to help you save money
We all know how expensive beauty products can be, and most times we end up spending too much money on them. Moreover, many brands use low-quality ingredients that give no benefit to our skin and hair, and that only represent a waste of money.
If you want to save up and also nourish your body with natural ingredients, there's an option that you might have not considered so far: creating your own beauty products! It's easier than you might think and you don't necessarily need ingredients that are hard to find. Here you have a few basic recipes to enter the world of DIY beauty.
You can create an easy face scrubs with just three ingredients: sugar (white, preferably), honey and a bit of lemon juice. You can adapt the proportions to your needs.
There are many natural ingredients that you can use to make hair masks: avocado, eggs, honey and yogurt. Today we advise to try a mask with honey, yogurt and apple vinegar. Leave it on your hair for 20-30 minutes and then rinse it to let your hair shine again.
Did you know that oils are the perfect ally to remove your make-up? If artificial make-up removers irritate your skin, try olive oil or coconut oil. They are especially fit to remove make-up around the eye zone, which is typically sensitive. Just a few drops applied directly on skin or on a napkin will do the trick.
You have probably heard that commercial deodorant have many ingredients that are harmful for our health, like aluminum.
Alternatively, you can create a home-made deodorant with just three ingredients: baking soda, coconut oil and cornstarch.
A lip balm can be easily made by heating up and mixing ingredients like beeswax, honey, cacao butter and olive oil. Melt the ingredients to bain-marie, mix them and then let it cool in a small package, suitable for a lip balm. If you prefer, you can add some drops of vitamins to the mix.
Body scrubs can be made with recipes quite similar to the ones used for face scrubs, even though for the latter it's necessary to use more delicate ingredients, as the skin of the facial area can be more sensitive.
You can make a body scrub with left-overs from coffee, brown sugar and oatmeal, mixing them up with honey and coconut oil.
Strengthener oil for nails
If your nails tend to break a lot, we have the perfect solution: a home-made strengthener oil. You will need castor oil, a bit of salt and wheat germ oil. Mix the ingredients together, apply a small dose on your nails and leave it for a couple of minutes.
With masks, both for your face and for your hair, you can experiment and play, using different ingredients based on your needs. If you suffer from dry skin, try a mask with banana, honey and oatmeal.
If you need a more presentable hair and you don't have time to wash it, the ideal solution is dry shampoo. Nonetheless, if you ran out of it or if you simply want to switch to a more natural solution, there is an alternative for you: home-made dry shampoo.
You can make it with simple cornstarch, adding, if you prefer, some talc. Rub the mix on your roots, let it set for a couple of minutes and then brush your hair to remove the excess of product. Voilà!
